In conjunction with International Women’s Day, Solstice Sounds & Asian Tones are teaming up to bring 4 of the best new and upcoming British Asian female artists to the forefront. The event celebrates one of the most underrepresented sections of the UK music industry.

Kaisha: Born in Malaysia, the Brighton-based singer and songwriter Kaisha’s modern R&B sound is influenced by eclectic music digested throughout her upbringing, growing up in a family of musicians. Her move to the UK and exposure to underground independent music scenes in Brighton and London provided more food for thought. Futuristic neo-soul, jazz-esque breakdowns and pop grooves can all be heard in Kaisha’s growing catalogue of music.

Naya Yeira: There’s a unique quality to the music of Naya Yeira, the London-based, Jakarta-born 23-year-old singer-songwriter. Laced with R’n’B, pop and hip-hop references, her soulful vocals, celestial aesthetic candid lyricism converge in an ethereal, genreblending sound. “Musical influences like Doja Cat, Billie Eilish, Tierra Whack inspire me,” she says, “while I’m drawn sonically to heady, other-worldly and dreamlike qualities.” Naya’s artistry is shaped by a lifelong immersion in a rich mix of cross border musical cultures, woven through her distinctive, addictive new tracks.

Tara Flanagan: Tara Flanagan is a UK up and coming artist of Irish – Filipino descent, originally from Poole, now living in London. She expresses a passionate pop sound, fusing emotive vocals with relatable and vulnerable singer-songwriter lyrics. Tara had a great start to 2024 landing a spot on Spotify Editorial "Fresh Finds" tipped as “the best new music by independent artists worldwide”, she’s had several spins on BBC Introducing and has also been championed by Love Island host Laura hitmore on her BBC 5 Live show.

Meera Blackburn: Meera Blackburn is a London based singer/producer born and raised in a small town, just outside London. Having already sold out shows at The Troubadour and Sketch, Meera focuses on subjects that are often overlooked in mainstream pop - Fake friends. With her new single 'Move On', Meera continues to focus on the long lasting effects failed friendships can have on everyone. Producing in her bedroom with just a keyboard, Meera is just getting started with many more fake friends anthems ahead.
