Gustavo Andrade & The Brasukas have cemented their reputation as the premier Brazilian music band in the north of England since their formation in 2022. Renowned for their electrifying performances and diverse repertoire, they’ve become a staple of the region’s vibrant world music scene.

Now, on Wednesday 12th March, they return to Band on the Wall to fill the spring air with the vibrant sounds of Brazil. This special session features Portuguese/UK vocalist Maya Blandy as guest performer, adding her soulful voice to the dynamic mix.

Fronted by São Paulo-born saxophonist Gustavo Andrade, who moved to the UK in 2019 to study jazz, the Brasukas are a powerhouse ensemble. Since their formation, the 10-piece band has redefined the northern Brazilian music scene with their dynamic blend of styles including Samba, MPB (Música Popular Brasileira), Bossa Nova, Samba Rock, Axé, Forró, Brazilian Soul, Frevo, and Rio Jazz-Funk. Drawing on Gustavo’s arrangements of classics by Brazilian icons such as Jorge Ben, Ivete Sangalo, Tim Maia, Tom Jobim, and Gilberto Gil, they deliver a performance that captures the essence of Brazil.

To keep the dance floor buzzing, local DJ collective Nossa! will be spinning the hottest Brazilian beats before and after the live sets, bringing their signature energy and eclectic mix of rhythms to the party.
