Tommy Arch, from Newcastle Upon Tyne, creates his own brand of soulful, timeless, folk – infused with a mastery of songwriting, learnt from obsessively listening to the likes of Dylan, Townes Vans Zandt, Van Morrison and delivered with a powerful freight train voice reminiscence of singers like Ray Charles and Otis Reading. Tommy has toured the world in various band projects and now strikes out on his own, having released a series of singles recorded at Durham Studies in London with Kitty and Lewis, from the acclaimed blues/soul outfit Kitty, Daisy and Lewis. Since then he has opened for the likes of Beans On Toast, Damien Lewis, Eddie 9V and is gearing up to record his debut album. Tommy says “I’m just making the music I’ve always wanted to make, the good old way, straight onto tape. I try to write songs that mean something to me and hopefully mean something to you too, that’s all I can ask for and really all I can say. I’ll let you decide the rest...”
“He prefers a neat whiskey with his beer, and in the morning his coffee as black as the minute the lights go out in a cheap motel. His vocal power and energy is like Flying Scotsman locomotive steaming through the highlands … we whispered to each other, we’ve got to cut this cat ” Kitty and Lewis Durham.
