Netherlands-born, London-based Dutch Mustard blends dream-pop and ’90s alt-rock with shoegaze influences. Layering abstract drones, psych-infused guitars, and SJ’s dynamic vocals, the sound is both ethereal and intense. Rooted in 2025 yet embracing ’90s inspirations, Dutch Mustard stands out with high-energy live shows, setting them apart from more traditional shoegaze acts.
2024 singles Loser and Thank You earned multiple BBC 6 Music plays from Steve Lamacq, while SJ’s session with John Kennedy on Radio X led to a London show for The Season Festival in February 2025. Her debut EP, An Interpretation of Depersonalisation, received BBC airplay and praise from Iggy Pop, followed by the acclaimed Beauty EP. Press support includes The Independent, CLASH, DORK, and a Grammy nod as a female-fronted act reviving rock.
Balancing bar work and studio engineering, SJ remains deeply immersed in music. With the new single Dreaming out now and having just played the New Colossus Festival in NYC (March 2025), Dutch Mustard is set for an exciting year—including a summer single, a UK tour, and work on a debut album.
