Glasgow-based pop polymath Elisabeth Elektra delivers deeply melodic, poignant art-pop anthems. Elektra exists in the realm of post-genre, finding empowerment in the vulnerability of her lyrics and the fluency of her production. Elisabeth’s debut ‘Mercurial’ - a timeless and inventive exploration of love and grief - received widespread critical acclaim across the UK music press.
Elektra’s new material has been recorded and co-produced alongside Jonny Scott (CHVRCHES) and mixed by Neil Comber (Charli XCX, Aurora) and James Cunningham (Nicki Minaj, BTS). It explores themes of personal agency and liberation after trauma, rage, self-realisation and queer desire. Elektra has since performed at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, main stage at Blue Dot Festival, supported Ladytron, Nadoine Shah, and Placebo. And has performed with Hen Hoose as part of Celtic Connections. Elektra also undertook an elaborate collaborative performance in the Scottish Highlands with arts organisation Cryptic Arts. They have also recently created a BBC 6 Music mix for the series “Lose Yourself…” as well as receiving widespread international press and 6 Music airplay for her most recent single “Broken Promises”.
Elektra is a member of nonbinary and female songwriting collective Hen Hoose, and co-wrote and co-produced two tracks from their album ‘Equaliser’ which was shortlisted for the SAY Award. Elektra has previously collaborated with Blanck Mass, John Fryer (This Mortal Coil), and Craig Armstrong. Elektra is also part of the band ‘Silver Moth’. They signed to UK label Bella Union, with album ‘Black Bay’ having been released in April 2023.
