Picture the scene: you, midweek, sitting at home in your ethically foraged socks, debating whether another night of staring at your walls counts as “self-care” or just a slow descent into madness. Well, fret no more! Salvation has arrived in the form of the Totnes Fringe Festival Fundraiser, a night so glittering, so unmissable, that to stay home would be a betrayal to your very soul.

Let’s be clear

This isn’t some dreary, sad-eyed charity gig where an off-key banjo player warbles for half an hour while you feign interest in a damp raffle prize. Oh no. This is Totnes at its dazzling best—a raucous, riotous and thoughtfully beautiful evening featuring three of the finest singers this town has ever hosted.  Mae Karthauser, Holly Ebony, Poppy-Jayne Jones, plus a comedian to make you laugh uncontrollably into your locally brewed ale, Edward Tripp, plus three extraordinary poet-wordsmiths Ione Harris, Geoff Petty and Laurie Page.  A jazz duo so effortlessly cool they probably sleep in minor seventh chords JAZZIENT. AND INCLUDING  a storyteller to spin the kind of tales that make you question your own existence Henry Everett.

Of whom It has been said:
Jazzient -"Jazzy journeyings. sumptuous, sumptuous I tell you!" Matt Harvey

Mae Karthauser – “Brechtian intensity, a hint of 1930s German torch song...Striking... unusual... intense...” RnR Magazine

Holly Ebony – "Raw, honest songwriting.” Daniel Pascoe, BBC

Poppy-Jayne Jones – “To hear her voice, is like falling in love for the first time.” Ben Arnold BBC Radio Devon.

Edward Tripp – "A roaring fire of absurd wit...” Dominic Corr, Corr Blimey

"Utterly unexpectable and very moreish" - Kate Copstick, The Scotsman

And at the helm?

None other than Kevin the Wizard of Totnes. Yes, the wizard. The myth. The nose. He will preside over the evening like a mystical overlord, dispensing wisdom, and just the right amount of magical nonsense to keep you on your toes. There will be wine spilt, there will be questionable facial hair and there indeed will be a raffle where you may walk away with something astonishingly wonderful, no sex toys!

May the Fringe be with you…

So why, dear reader, should you attend? Because the Totnes Fringe Festival (Weekend of July 11th, 12, 13th -quick diary it) needs you. It needs your laughter, your applause, your wild generosity. Without you, it cannot thrive, and the world will be an infinitely duller place—a place where midweek entertainment consists of reorganising your spice cupboard.

Join the revelry

And buy your ticket. Bring your best self or at least the version of you that doesn’t wear Crocs in public. Let’s raise a glass, raise some funds, and remind Totnes why it remains the most gloriously unhinged town in the land!
