Habibi Funk, the record label dedicated to re-releasing Arabic disco, funk, reggae and more returns to Jazz Cafe, back to their roots with an intimate live concert showcase this January.
Saif Abu Bakr is a Sudanese singer and saxophonist based in Kuwait. He recorded the legendary “Jazz, Jazz, Jazz“ album alongside the Scorpions band in 1980, an iconic document of the vibrant Sudanese jazz scene at the time. The album was reissued on Habibi Funk in 2018.
He will be performing songs from the album for the first time in decades alongside the London based Scorpios band on the night, with support provided by Habibi Funk’s label head honcho playing an opening DJ set.
Originally this concert was supposed to take place last October at the festival, but due to reasons out of our control Saif Abu Bakr was not able to travel so we’re more than happy to have found a new date for this show! If you purchased festival tickets with the intention of seeing Saif Abu Bakr, you have been added to the exclusive access list to have tickets reserved at the lowest price for this show.
