NO GOOD WOMAN & THE KINGSNAKES are an exciting five piece Rhythm & Blues band from Southend-on-Sea, Essex, playing esoteric covers plus original numbers all iced with the incredible voice that is a No Good Woman. They have made notable local appearances at Digby Fairweather’s Jazz Centre UK, the 2022 Leigh Folk Festival and are now making their London debut with us here at The Green Note. Expect sassy, soulful blues, old and new, from the Delta to Chicago, Bessie Smith to BB King and Nina Simone to Peter Green.

Dawnette (A No Good Woman) - Vocals
Dawnette has been singing ever since she can remember and was the lead singer for The Honky Tinkers (aka The HTs) with Gary Crockett. She has sung jazz and blues with a number of groups and musicians over the years, including Digby Fairweather and Martin McNeil’s Bottleneck Blues.

Mark Brown – Guitars
Mark’s passion for guitar is clear to see and hear in his performance. He has played guitar for the soulful Pauline Taylor and Islandic Emiliana Torrini, touring throughout Europe as well as rippling strings in London with Phillious Williams. He has one foot in Classical guitar with the other firmly in The Blues.

Pat McNamara – Bass
Key founding member of long-established Southend Beat Group The Phrogs, Pat has played bass with many bands including Dooyah! with Gary Thompson and Dave Dulake (of The Railway Hotel). Pat plays with a stripped back and minimal approach that is sympathetic with the style and allows room for the Kingsnakes to manoeuvre.

Gary Thompson – Drums and Vocals
Having spent many years in the music business, appearing on Top of the Pops when he was the ‘The Drummer Man’ with the band Tonight, Gary is also an accomplished guitarist, singer and songwriter.

Wailin’ Wayne – Harmonica and Vocal
Wayne has played with a number of bands since becoming hooked on the blues after hearing the first album by Peter Green’s Fleetwood Mac. A genuine music fan, Wayne also has great knowledge of the Southend music scene and has worked as crew for The Famous Potatoes and Geoff Chapman’s Roosters.
