Keith Deller
Still a force to be reckoned with at the board having competed in the Seniors Tour in recent years, “Delboy” is perhaps best known for his historic victory at the 1983 BDO World Darts Championship, when he became the youngest-ever world champion, defeating the reigning champion Eric “The Crafty Cockney” Bristow 6–5 in a thrilling final. His victory is remembered for his iconic 138 checkout (treble 20, treble 18, double 12) to clinch the title, which to this day is known as the “Deller Checkout”. Throughout his career, Keith consistently competed at a high level, reaching the World Championship semi-finals again in 1984 and 1985. He also won the British Open in 1987 and was a regular feature in televised events during the 1980s and 1990s. After retiring from professional play, Deller became a popular darts commentator and exhibition player and remains one of the best speakers about the sport he loves.
