About

Acclaimed as composers as well as instrumentalists, sharing multiple awards and seven albums as leaders between them, saxophonist Alex Hitchcock and guitarist Ant Law have created a startlingly vivid new soundworld in their trailblazing group 'Same Moon in the Same World'.

Leading UK guitarist Ant Law is “a game changer” and “an innovator” according to The Guardian. His eighth album ‘Ensconced’ in collaboration with Milan-born British/Turkish singer Brigitte Beraha will be released on 16th August 2024. In 2013 his debut 'Entanglement' was released, followed by 'Zero Sum World' (2015), 'Life I Know' (2018), ‘The Sleeper Wakes’ (2020). Ant is the “L” in Trio HLK who record/tour with Evelyn Glennie. His releases have been awarded 9/10 reviews in guitar magazines which feature him frequently. He was included in a list of “10 Astounding Virtuosos”, and a recent issue of Guitar Techniques features a 2-page spread on Ant.

London-born saxophonist Alex Hitchcock is one of the UK’s most virtuosic young musicians. His 2020 release 'AuB' (Edition) was described as ‘ready to make cataclysmic waves’ Jazzwise. His debut (Fresh Sound - home to debuts by Ambrose Akinmusire/Avishai Cohen) was described by All About Jazz as having 'stratospheric trajectory’. His burgeoning international reputation was confirmed by a major prize at Umbria Jazz Festival and tours in Poland, Spain, Italy, Hungary, performances at Love Supreme Festival, Royal Albert Hall and Ronnie Scott’s.

This band takes its name from a line in Japanese author Haruki Murakami’s 1999 novel Sputnik Sweetheart: “we’re both looking at the same moon in the same world. We’re connected to reality by the same line."
