Somebody’s Child are a rising force in modern rock, known for their dynamic sound and raw, heartfelt songwriting. Led by frontman Cian Godfrey, the Dublin-based band have built a reputation for electric live performances, selling out venues across the UK, Ireland and Continental Europe and sharing stages with The War on Drugs, Bloc Party and Kings of Leon. Their self-titled debut album in 2023 cemented them as a standout act, with anthemic tracks like “Broken Record”, “I Need Ya” and “We Could Start a War” resonating with fans. 2024 saw them take even bigger strides, including a milestone headline show at Dublin’s 3Olympia Theatre and a main-stage performance at Electric Picnic.
Determined to evolve beyond indie-rock conventions, Somebody’s Child are constantly pushing their creative boundaries. Their second album, When Youth Fades Away, recorded in Connecticut with Grammy-winning producer Peter Katis (The National, Interpol), sees them exploring new sonic territory, influenced in part by electronic pioneers like Kraftwerk. The record embraces change both sonically and thematically, reflecting on the realities of growing older - not with nostalgia, but with a hunger for reinvention. As Godfrey puts it, “There is no Somebody’s Child - it’s just a figment of our imaginations allowing us to process our lives.”Tue Oct 14 2025

Somebody's Child
-
Somebody’s Child’s self-titled debut album, released in February 2023, was the culmination of years of work. Cian Godfrey had started the project in his native Dublin in 2018 with a series of infectious indie-pop singles that garnered attention both at home in Ireland and across the water in the UK.
Early support slots with the likes of Primal Scream and Kaiser Chiefs as well as an appearance on The Late Late Show helped to quickly bring SC to the public’s consciousness - and before too long US indie label Frenchkiss Records (The Drums, Passion Pit) came knocking.
The LP was produced by Mikko Gordon (The Smile, IDLES) in London, and featured a handful of fan favourites alongside newly-penned material. Upon its release, it garnered positive reviews from the likes of CLASH, The Irish Times and Hot Press amongst others - notable radio support came from RTE 2FM, BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 6 Music and NPO 3FM in the Netherlands.
A period of heavy touring followed, taking in high profile festival appearances at SXSW, Best Kept Secret, Truck, Reading & Leeds and BST Hyde Park, two sold out UK tours and opening slots in summer 2024 with The War on Drugs and Bloc Party - all serving to establish Somebody’s Child as a force to be reckoned with the world of indie rock.
