Susi & Szilvia are a klezmer clarinet & accordion duo who have been playing together since 2019. They have recorded two albums - both receiving 4* reviews in Songlines magazine - and have performed at festivals including Yiddish Summer Weimar, Klezfest London, Klezmer Festival Fürth, Jüdische Woche Dresden and Harzburger Musiktage.
Susi (clarinet, UK) has performed worldwide with She’Koyokh and the London Klezmer Quartet and been described as the 'Queen of the Klezmer Clarinet' by CASS Magazine. Szilvia (accordion, DE) was born in Budapest, lives in Hannover and is the Musical Director of the 80-piece Klezmer Orchester Erfurt.
They will play tunes from the repertoire of the legendary klezmer clarinettist Dave Tarras (1897-1989). Born in Ukraine, he migrated to New York in the 1920s and created a whole new American sound in Yiddish music by combining the traditional Jewish wedding music of Bessarabia with swing and other popular styles of that golden musical era.
