Celtic Connections proudly presents The Langan Band and Wayward Jane
The Langan Band, a Scottish trio, has spent over 15 years crafting a distinctive, boundary-pushing sound that blends traditional influences with innovative compositions. Their music combines genres like Scottish folk, Eastern European Gypsy, and progressive jazz, resulting in a unique and dynamic experience. The band initially bonded over a love of traditional music but soon began transforming these works into bold, original pieces.
Notably, they won the Danny Kyle Award at the Celtic Connections Festival early in their career. Now internationally represented, the band is recognized for its inventive approach and powerful live performances.
Wayward Jane’s music is a modern interpretation of American folk and Old Time traditions, blending roots music with fresh, nuanced arrangements and original songs. Their rich sound features fiddle, clawhammer banjo, double bass, guitar, wooden flute and close vocal harmonies. Wayward’s live shows have a joyful energy, expressing the fine musicianship and playful chemistry of four long-time friends. Ranging in mood from bouncing, energetic tunes to tender and soulful songs, Wayward Jane tend to leave audiences with a glow in their hearts. “They’re just that bit different from anything else happening in Scotland!” (BBC Radio Scotland’s Travelling Folk).
Why do we have a restoration Levy?
Put very simply, our restoration levy is an additional charge added to your ticket price which is directly invested back into the venue. This money is used for critical maintenance, repairs, and preservation efforts to ensure the long-term sustainability of the building.
As the 3rd oldest church building in Glasgow, dating back to 1836, Saint Luke's requires ongoing care and special restoration to maintain its historic character and facilities. This levy will enable us to fund essential projects that will safeguard the venue's future as a vibrant hub for live music and community events.
