THE MOUNTAIN FIREWORK COMPANY: The renowned anglo Irish alt-country folksters The Mountain Firework Company are here to promote their latest critically acclaimed album “The Beggar’s Prayer.”

“10/10.. exceptional” Americana UK

“Five Stars.. Immensely delightful, these fireworks will give you a cracking good time” RnR magazine

They first came together over heartache and wine to create what has been described as “gorgeous folk/alt country pop, with equal parts darkness and cheeky humour ” and “alternative bluegrass with a dark treacle folk centre”

Taking the string band sound in new directions for the 21st century, their unique brand of Americana is built on the solid foundations of American mountain music but with an added twist of Celtic Folk and a dash of Bed-sit Singer-Songwriter angst.

Their trademark cocktail of dynamic drive and reflective power comes from combining traditional acoustic instrumentation (banjo, fiddle, mandolin, guitars, double bass with added beef from a drum kit) with that dark thread of subject matter that runs direct from old Appalachian folk song right up to modern country noir. The bands songwriter and guitar and banjo maestro Gareth McGahan makes no attempt to mask the Gaelic overtones in his distinctive Belfast brogue and his delivery exactly mirrors his heartfelt writing style. His songs sound both contemporary and traditional , and when they are performed with the vocal harmonies supplied by the remaining band members (every one of whom are exceptional players) the band bristles with energy and vitality.

“Irish folk may have informed Americana but few explore the link as well as The Mountain Firework Company” Q MAGAZINE

“Find this album as soon as possible and discover your next favorite band” MAVERICK MAGAZINE

“The band’s outstanding musicianship impresses time and again” AMERICANA UK

“Contemporary British Folkgrass ..the ace in the hole is the bruised vocal imprint of Gareth McGahan ..Excellent.” R2 ROCK’REEL MAGAZINE

“This is music of rich depth, incredibly rewarding to get into, and easily one of the best albums I’ve heard this year.” FLYIN SHOES REVIEW
