    The Skids

    Post-Punk

The Skids are back with a vengeance! After a no1 album release with Destination Dusseldorf The band recently embarked on a sell-out UK tour. Who would have thought this possible. Certainly not singer and founder of the band Richard Jobson, who says:
‘I love every moment of performing Skids classics like Into the Valley and The Saints are Coming live alongside our new material. I could never have imagined this happening and have to pinch myself to show that it’s real.
Sharing the stage with boyhood heroes The Sex Pistols is one of the most exciting things to happen since we started playing again. They are my friends and without them I would never have wanted to start the Skids back in 1977 when I was only 16.
It’s going to be an amazing day in Glasgow,  an unforgettable selection of iconic bands celebrating music that changed peoples lives.’

The Skids were formed in 1977 by Stuart Adamson and Richard Jobson in Dunfermline, Fife. They went onto record many top 20 songs such as Into the valley, The Saints are Coming and Working for the Yankee Dollar. Their songs have been covered by the likes of U2 and Greenday as well as being used at various football stadiums around the world. They came back with new material in 2018 that surprised everyone and was an instant success before they went onto to tour the UK and beyond to sell out crowds. They remain an influence on many bands and artists that followed in their wake such as Manic Street Preachers and Johnny Marr.
