The Spitfires have reformed with the original line up (Billy Sullivan, Matt Johnson and Sam Long) to play KOKO in London on Friday 23rd May 2025 celebrating 10 years since the release of their debut album Response back in 2015.
Originally formed in 2012, The Spitfires played their final show at a sold out Electric Ballroom in London back in February 2022, a fitting punctuation mark for the quartet who built a cult fan base on their own terms over the past decade with their five albums Response (2015), A Thousand Times (2016), Year Zero (2018), Life Worth Living (2020), and Play For Today (2022).
The Spitfires received support from BBC 6music, Radio X, CLASH, Louder Than War, Gigslutz, Classic Rock Magazine, Fred Perry Subculture and many more, with both critical acclaim and their independently-won commercial success underlining Billy Sullivan’s own credentials as a songwriter of exceptional merit.

The Spitfires
-
The Spitfires are a Watford based 4-piece consisting of songwriter Billy Sullivan on lead vocals and guitar, Sam Long on bass and backing vocals, Matt Johnson on drums and George Moorhouse on keyboards.
Taking in a wide range of influences from Reggae and Ska through to Punk and Soul - this melting pot has helped infuse the band's own sound and style.
The Spitfires have released two albums. 'Response' was released in 2015 and 'A Thousand Times' in 2016. Both albums peaked at number 6 in the Independent charts and also dented the national top 100.
The band's work ethic and acute social commentary has made this fiercely independent band one of the most popular underground success stories in the UK today. Their attitude and independent spirit has earned them a dedicated and loyal following across the whole of the UK and Europe.
The Spitfires have now announced their third album 'Year Zero', to be released 27th July through Hatch Records and will also be embarking on a nationwide UK and Ireland tour in 2018/19.
