Yarès is a duo formation (accordion, guitar, voices) focussing on Greek rebetiko music from 1920's to 1950's. Their repertoire explores less known songs about the love and hardship of the Greek immigrants of Turkey, including notable composers such as Tountas, Skarvelis and Mitsakis.
Fotis and Nicolas formed Yarès in an effort to share their love for rebetiko and make the songs they enjoy known to the public abroad. They have been active for more than three years and have performed in various venues across Belgium, as well as in Greece. They perform songs that express the social issues of the working class and of the Greek urban society of the previous century, with a great admiration for the original recording.
